Trying and relaxing oppose each other, so the real meaning of the card is, “Relax, don’t try.”

Yoga Sutra 2.45

Samadhi siddhir isvara pranidhanat

Samadhi is attained through Surrender ( Ishvara pranidhana) to the Self.

Get out of your own way.  Allow the Silent Witness to be the guiding force in your life.  The ego will incessantly chatter but seeing your true Self as the ultimate reality we can start to see the ego as a friend that we help along the path.  We do not allow its fevers and negativity to be the deciding factor in all we do.  We let the stillness of the inner voice that is calm be the guide and work consciously  through it.  When we learn to give the ego no weight we surrender to life and what it has in store for us .  Being divinely guided leads us in our daily lives to a more richer and grateful experience. 

Yoga Sutra 2.46

sthira sukham asanam

Asan should be a steady comfortable position.  

Pantanjali did not teach Hatha Yoga-(that stresses mastery of the body as a way of attaining a state of spiritual perfection in which the mind is withdrawn from external objects) but Raja Yoga-( is declared as the goal where one experiences nothing but the bliss of the undisturbed, the natural state of calm, serenity, peace, communion) Samkhya tradition- Philosophical teachings. Its not until 1500 years later that Asanas became codified in a Hatha Yoga Practice.  Astanga Yoga was present in these time for about 300 years it is a very disciplined practice (a type of yoga based on eight principles and consisting of a series of poses executed in swift succession, combined with deep, controlled breathing).  As one comes into each Asana the mind will also follow into asana.  Each asana is a meditation posture and each meditation is a asana of the mind.

There is no try in relax you either do or you dont.Pantajali and the tarot card know that trying is a action state and we are looking to be passive and allow the inner self to show up the way.
